Handshakes and Gopher Wood

Well, Connor left this morning for his school trip to Atlantic Coast. He will be gone for 3 days!!!He had to be at the school by 6:15 so of course I was waiting with the camera at the ready. I wanted a cute picture of him with his bags etc. Unfortunately, Connor would only give me this goofy sarcastic smile with each click of my shutter!

So off they go. Chris gets to the school and Connor finds his buddy right away to arrange bus mates. Chris stands around for awhile and as they start getting on the bus Connor turns around and says "well Dad..." and extends his hand for a good ole manly handshake goodbye. This is clearly code for "please don't hug me in front of my friends!", Chris obliged at first but then pulled him in for a good old K-Fed style handshake hug combo!

I have missed him all day, AJ seems to be coping well. I asked him if he missed Connor and he said, "are you kidding? We are going out for Mexican food tonight"

So, I am sure you are wondering what the Gopher wood title was all about. Somewhere between the Bible and Evan Almighty I remember Noah built the Ark out of Gopher wood. My NIV will say it is Cypress but I am sure Papa and Bobo will weigh in on this one and clear things up for us. In any event, we are on day 4 of rain, all day, all night. I know, not exactly 40 days but I am 2 more days away from Chris starting on the ark with his bucket o tools! Where is the sun????

  1. Ugh...I feel ya about the rain thing! I would swear we were well into a week of it straight before we left TX. Don't get me wrong...I don't mind a little rain, but puleeze! Once the ducks start making a home out of our yard and the puts up sign reading "Lake Laxton", well I have had enough! Hope Connor has fun!

  2. That picture doesn't even look like Connor. What in the heck is gopher wood? Is Connor's trip like outdoor ed? Nothing like a little rain on the Atlantic coast to chill you to the bone. Did you really thin A.J. would admit he missed his brother?
