Meet Our New Superintendent

Connor! Boy is he bitter this morning. If you remember from yesterday, school was canceled and we had not one flake of snow. At about 5 pm last night the snow started coming down and the boys were way excited. All night Connor was saying "there is no way we are going to school tomorrow!"

Well, by 5:30 am they were both up to check out the situation - school is on a 2 hour delay - WHAT??? But it snowed, look at it Mom! Look outside! For the last 2 hours Connor has tried to negotiate any which way that he could stay home. He has looked at the school calendar, identified the most appropriate make up day, lectured me on the dangers of a bus in hazardous conditions (by the way, his bus is a Tahoe!), on and on and on. Forty-five times I have reminded him that he is not the superintendent and it is just not his call - he will not hear it.

I vividly remember on April 14, 1999 when the Dr. announced "it's a boy!" I was sure I had dodged the ultimate bullet. Mom always said "I hope you have one just like you one day!" I was clear - victory was mine! Two kids, both BOYS!! I realized there would be no scratching, no arguing about clothes, no she borrowed this and I have not even worn it yet, no curling iron/make up wars, I was Golden.

I did not factor in that I could end up with one with the same personality! Way to go Bobo, your wish came true!

  1. Did Bobo say she hoped I had one just like you too - because I did! Maybe the names are too close? Trust me Aunt Maria you have met your match and she lives in Texas.

  2. I like Connors spirit. I just watch tv, see we have a 2 hour delay and get on with my life. Connor on the other hand finds every way possible to stick it to the man. In this case, the superintedant is the man. But its not all that bad. In the south they will call for snow and you will get the day off. In Colorado you get 6 nches and still go to school. I still think we should of got the day off though.

  3. I believe I have been engaged in a number of debates with Conner just like the one you have described. The fact that his Dad drives him to school has nothing to do with it. He is obviously only concerned about the safety of his classmates. The kid can put a spin on anything. My fear is that he is going to grow up to be an Attorney or a Politician, or worse yet both.
I like AJ's approach. "Whatever". He certainley has adapted to the laid back Southern Style.
I'm having a little trouble understanding the 2 hour delay deal. After the long and slow drive from the airport to your house I thought the whole State was allready on a 2 hour delay. Maybe it was just the driver. Come to think of it Chris has allways had that laid back, comfortable Southern Style.

  4. Hi...Maria! Your Conner sounds like my Cameron, always negotiating and looking for a loop hole! I swear he could be a lawyer or something!

  5. I didn't realize you had a blog. Miss you in AZ, hope life is treating you good. Love hearing about it. Take care and give the boys a hug from me.
