Yummy in a cup!

I am so excited - I have a new toy! After more than a year of looking at the Keurig and wondering if I should get it I finally just went for it. I love a single cup of coffee for a couple of reasons.

1. I love the first cup of coffee from the pot, nice and FRESH!

2. If I make a pot of coffee, I will drink the whole thing, zero will-power here.

I even found a website where I can buy the flavored coffees in a build your own variety pack. I love the internet!

I am living proof that the people will stimulate this economy! I did not need a tax break to buy it, I did not need the senate to hold a hearing on whether the executives at Keuring were honest enough for me to buy it from, I did not need Cramer or Jon Stewart or even Simon Cowell to tell me to buy it. One 20% coupon from Bed Bath and Beyond was all the influence I needed. Let's try capitalism again and see if that works!

Things you might not want to hear....

Connor's back! Holy cow I missed that kid, poor AJ has had to make up for both boys this week and I am certain he is happy to be off duty.

I think Connor had a great time. They went canoeing, he got to hold a snake (sorry Grandma - I just report the news), went on a ferry and got to bunk with his best buddies all week.

I got to hear his favorite part of the trip on the way home. Here's how it went down.

Mom - What was your favorite part of the trip

Connor - Dissecting the fish

Mom - Really???

Connor - Yea, we got to keep what was in his stomach

Mom - What?? What do you mean you got to keep it?

Connor - They let me take it home

Mom - Where is it now?

Connor - In my bag!

So, the bag is still in the garage and at some point today Chris will have to go in CSI style for cleanup. Yuck!

Handshakes and Gopher Wood

Well, Connor left this morning for his school trip to Atlantic Coast. He will be gone for 3 days!!!He had to be at the school by 6:15 so of course I was waiting with the camera at the ready. I wanted a cute picture of him with his bags etc. Unfortunately, Connor would only give me this goofy sarcastic smile with each click of my shutter!

So off they go. Chris gets to the school and Connor finds his buddy right away to arrange bus mates. Chris stands around for awhile and as they start getting on the bus Connor turns around and says "well Dad..." and extends his hand for a good ole manly handshake goodbye. This is clearly code for "please don't hug me in front of my friends!", Chris obliged at first but then pulled him in for a good old K-Fed style handshake hug combo!

I have missed him all day, AJ seems to be coping well. I asked him if he missed Connor and he said, "are you kidding? We are going out for Mexican food tonight"

So, I am sure you are wondering what the Gopher wood title was all about. Somewhere between the Bible and Evan Almighty I remember Noah built the Ark out of Gopher wood. My NIV will say it is Cypress but I am sure Papa and Bobo will weigh in on this one and clear things up for us. In any event, we are on day 4 of rain, all day, all night. I know, not exactly 40 days but I am 2 more days away from Chris starting on the ark with his bucket o tools! Where is the sun????

Why exactly are we messing with the clocks???

If you all remember last year Connor had a total melt down during daylight savings. He was upset that we were just "messing" with the clocks. "You can't just change the clock and make it true! It is not 8 it is only 7!"

This year I am having a tough time adjusting. For someone who already has a hard time sleeping changing the time is an added level of difficulty I could do without. Whew - I am tired!

Ode to Papa

When Papa came to NC in November he and Bobo gave us a fire pit as a housewarming gift. We had a lot of fun with it while they were here. We fired it up again tonight and had dinner outside with Mags. It was a great night, not too windy or cold and nice to just spend time in the fresh air.

After dinner and once the sky got darker Chris pulled out the telescope. The moon was AMAZING you could see all of the craters. AJ thinks he saw alien lifeform (that is a unconfirmed sighting), for a minute there it felt like a re-enactment of the Great Outdoors. People do say Chris looks like Dan Aykroyd.

What a great day - time with the boys and lots of time outside. Spring is coming!!!

It's a Beautiful Day!!!

Did we really have 2 days off this week because of snow? It was so nice yesterday! It is supposed to be 77 today and 79 tomorrow! It may not be Phoenix but it feels so nice to spend some time outside. The boys played some catch, did some soft toss and we were able to shoot some hoops. Connor's team has their first practice today - GO METS!

Day 2 No School

Good news! AJ is feeling better; 2 things point to this.

1. The snowman he built in the yard - way cute!

2. Chris saying "I don't care if they cancel school or not tomorrow I am dropping these kids off. "

The later indicates both kids are back to normal!
